The president of the AIMTC - All India Motor Transport Congress informed that in the All India-based strike by the lorry owners proposed from 20th July, around 90 Lakh vehicles will participate.
The General Council meeting of the Tamil Nadu State Lorry Owners Federation was conducted yesterday (Wednesday, 4th July) at Namakkal. The President Kumarasamy presided over the General Council meeting. The president of the AIMTC, Kultharan Singh Atwal, who participated in this meeting, shared with the reporters that various demands –
- Tollgate charges must be cancelled
- The recently increased premium for 3rd party insurance must be reduced
- The taxes on diesel must be reduced
- The sales of petrol and diesel must be brought under GST
It has been decided that there will be an indefinite strike throughout the country from 20th July. 90 Lakhs of goods vehicles will participate in this strike. The vehicles which carry cooking gas, petrol, and diesel will also participate in this strike.
The president of the state Lorry Owners’ Association, Kumarasamy informed that the 3.50 lakh lorries in Tamil Nadu would not operate. The Federation of the Lorry Booking Agents has also promised that the lorry booking activity will be stopped from 15th July.
