The Chennai Marathon 2019 - Registrations are now open

The Chennai Marathon 2019 will be held on 6th January 2019. The Registrations for the event is open now.
The Chennai Marathon is organized by Chennai Runners, a not-for-profit organization run by passionate runner-volunteers since 2006. It is one of the few running events in the country that is entirely organized by the running community.
Originally started as the ECR Run, it was a simple affair. Participants would begin from a resort on East Coast Road (ECR) and run down 5 or 10 km, turn back and then have breakfast together at the resort and that was all. There were no more than 25 runners on the first ECR run and contributions were used to cover breakfast at the resort. The quarterly ECR Run transformed into an annual signature event in 2010.
The Chennai Marathon is now the country’s second largest marathon after Mumbai. There were three race categories, the 10Km, the Half Marathon (21.097 Km) and Full Marathon (42.195 Km) till last year. We are proud to introduce a new distance / category Perfect 20 Miler (32.186 Km) from this year. The Event will be held on the first Sunday in January every year, the marathon route covers some of Chennai’s historic landmarks.
