Ever since it was opened in the year 1985, Vandalur Zoo or Arignar Anna Zoological Park in south-western Chennai has been attracting many visitors is known. Especially during the vacations many people come to this amazing zoo with their families and friends for relaxation and fun. This Vandalur Zoo is the second wildlife sanctuary in the state of TN and is now making news.
On Tuesday, 24th July 2018, chief minister of TN. Mr. E. Palaniswamy would inaugurate new tiger enclosures plus children’s park in this Vandalur Zoo and that would be superb. An amount of Rs 27 lakh was used in creating children’s park with equipment plus enclosures to accommodate as many as 4 tigers.
A total of 26 tigers are present in this zoo and out of these 26 tigers 11 are white tigers. This was confirmed by a senior wildlife officer. It must be noted that the white tigers are kept in separate enclosures and other tigers are kept near the lion enclosure. On the rotation basis these animals are released in groups for the visitor’s sake. Soon the visitors coming to this Vandalur Zoo would be able to see tigers in new enclosures. This new enclosure is located on the road leading to lion safari.
