The government has introduced the service for the crop insurance coverage for the farmers and agriculturists. This facility will protect the agriculturists from huge losses that may be caused to natural disasters such as floods, droughts, and other nature furies, The Prime Minister’s Crop Insurance Team is available and functioning in the state of Tamil Nadu.

Under this scheme, the agriculturists will be paid compensation right from the sowing of the seeds to harvesting as per the extent of the damage.

For the agriculturists who avail loans from the National and Cooperative Banks, crop insurance is mandatory and is covered. The other agriculturists are allowed to register their crop insurance coverage as per their preference.

Though this new facility has become hugely popular, as another initiative to make it effective in order that more agriculturists register for the same, the facility to register crop insurance cover has now been introduced in all the government e-service centres.

The agriculturists can now pay the required premium at the government e-service centres and enter into crop insurance coverage, There are prospects that there would be a considerable increase in the acreage of cultivable lands after this crop insurance coverage facility introduction.
