In general, the private channels will be running their own content for specific locale, city or town and telecast shows for a small range of audience.
Arasu Cable is now eyeing on to expand their arena and increase monetizing more. So, digitization is being carried out and local channels are to be given a chance to get included under their network.
A tender call is announced to all the local cable channel owners. For the Chennai region, 10 slots are to be allotted and the remaining will be for across the state other than Chennai.
The upset price which is the lowest price to bid is set as Rs 0.66 per set-top-box for Private Local Channels in state-level and the same is Rs 1.50 per set-top-box for Chennai Private Local Channels.
Across Tamil Nadu, the TACTV has got 24 lakh connections and in Chennai, there are 91,000 connections.
In the digital form of TACTV, all the PLCs in state-level shall get telecast across Tamil Nadu. And similarly, in the TACTV digital mode, Chennai PLCs are to be telecast within Chennai city limits, says a tender document.
Earlier, a tender was announced. However, there was not any proper response by private channel owners, and hence a revamping was done on the upset price, said a TACTV official.
