The latest EVMs to be set up in all polling booths

In the coming parliamentary elections, the latest Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) with the facility called VVPAD (Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail) enabling the voter to see and confirm the symbol he/she had voted for.

A training seminar was organized for all the district collectors of the state on behalf of the Election Commission yesterday (Friday, 3rd August) at a Private hotel located in Guindy, Chennai. The session was presided by the Chief of the Tamil Nadu Election Commission, Satyaprada Sahu. All the district collectors participated in this session.

All the EVMs are tested thoroughly before every election. The Election Commission has devised a set of detailed rules, regulations, and procedures for this purpose. The secretary of the Indian Election Commission, Sowmyajith Sinha, and other officials explained this.

The EVMs are to be checked before the elections in the presence of the representatives all approved political parties. This procedure, as well as other rules and regulations, were explained in detail during the session. For the ensuing parliamentary elections, the latest EVMs with VVPAT facility (as explained above) is proposed to be installed and used. Training was imparted to the collectors on the procedure to operate these EVMs.

The Chief of the Tamil Nadu Election Commission, Satyapradha Sahu informed that the information that the constituency of Thiruparankundram being vacant has already been conveyed to the Election Commission. He further explained that all the district collectors are to be imparted training regarding how to check the EVMs before the elections. All the other officials will also be trained in each district. VVPAT EVMs have been tested so far only in a few constituencies.

However, in the ensuing parliamentary elections, VVPAT EVMs are to be used in all the constituencies. So, the officers/staff are to be trained on how to operate them.

This latest EVMs are 100% dependable and foolproof. This has been demonstrated several times by the Election Commission. The draft voters list will be released by the end of next month.  Following the death of the AIADMK MLA (Bose) from the constituency of Thiruparankundram, the news about the vacancy in this constituency has been conveyed to the Election Commission.
