The central government has announced that it has no proposals to conduct NEET (National Entrance-cum-Eligibility Test) for admission to medical courses MBBS and BDS) twice a year.

A pass in the NEET is mandatory for the candidates for admission to the medical graduate courses MBBS and BDS and NEET is conducted throughout the country.

NEET is being conducted for the last 2 years.in the country. There have been strong objections against this from the state of Tamil Nadu.

In this scenario, the central minister for human welfare and development, Prakash Javadekar informed a few days back that there was a proposal to conduct NEET twice a year. It was explained that NEET would be conducted twice a year from in the months of February and May from the year 2019. It would be conducted online. However, the central government has now come up with an announcement denying this.

The explanation given by the central ministry of human welfare and development is that during the year 2019, there are no changes in the format of NEET. The central government has no plans to conduct NEET twice a year. The ministry of the human welfare and development has been exploring and reviewing about conducting NEET online.

It is gathered hat the earlier announcement of NEET being conducted twice a year was released due to the extra pressure given to the central ministry of human welfare and development from the central ministry of health. However, it is further gathered that the central ministry of health has insisted that NEET should be continued in the present written format rather than online format.
