The Chennai Meteorological Centre has informed that there are prospects of rain in the next 24 hours in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

A cyclonic format has developed in the upper layers of the atmosphere over the central-west Bay of Bengal and the coastal areas of Andhra.

Because of the above cyclonic format and the phenomenon of thermal convection, there are prospects of rain in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

There may be intermittent rains in the Chennai Metro City.

There are prospects of heavy rain in the adjacent areas of the Western Ghat mountain range including the districts of Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Dindigul, and Nilgiri.

It is further mentioned that there are prospects of strong winds blowing at high speeds of from 35 kmph to 55 kmph in the Kanyakumari region and its adjacent areas.
