The inaugural function of the commencement of construction of a new bridge at a cost of Rs. 2 Crore at Nagadevanpalayam near Gobichettipalayam in Erode district was conducted today (Tuesday, 14th August).

The Tamil Nadu state government Minister for Education, K. A. Sengottaiyan, participated and inaugurated the Bhoomi Pooja.

After this, the minister shared some news with the reporters and informed that 1 lakh students (boys and girls) have joined the government schools this year. A target has been set to increase this figure up by 2 lakhs new students next academic year.

As has been commenced in the city government schools, smart classes will be commenced in the schools located in the hilly/mountainous regions. These schools also will be completely computerized.

On behalf pf the government department of education, a new contact telephone number 14417 has been introduced for the students (boys and girls) to make complaints, if any. The students can explain their problem/complaint through this number. The name of the students making complaints will be kept strictly confidential. Remedial action will be initiated and if required, action will be taken on the persons concerned with the complaint. This will be implemented from tomorrow.

It is a matter of pride and worth noting that such a system is being introduced for the 1st ever time in Tamil Nadu in the whole of India.
