A latest update from Google confirms the new agreement with WhatsApp that the backups from the messenger application will no longer count against Google drive storage quota. Also Google clearly mentions its users about the removal of storage from WhatsApp backups will be automatically removed for those who failed to update it more than a year of time.
The new policy will be effective from November 12, 2018 and some of the users can see the release of the quota much earlier. In order to save data of WhatsApp people are asked to manually backup the application before November 12, 2018.
Quick actions for the new policy:
- Immediately back up the Android WhatsApp client for the retrieving of data in future.
- For refreshing the existing backups manually save WhatsApp client on a separate back up before October 30, 2018.
