Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) announced the official plan of the construction of two-level underground commuter amenities center near Shenoy Nagar metro station. With this the commuters can park the vehicle at the station, shop things and can also eat at the planned underground facility. The preliminary works for the construction has already begun CMRL reports the completion will be done within two years of time.
The site under Thiru.Vi.Ka Park with an area of more than 4.26 lakh square feet has been verified. The contractor has started the mobilization of equipment in the proposed site for the construction of the facility. Excavation for the underground center will begin within a month said the sources of CMRL.
A whopping space for 600 four wheelers and 1000 two wheelers is the main proposed facility in this two-level center. Shopping zones and restaurants will be an integral part of the plan for the use of commuters. The center will be built in a depth of 8 meters where the second level is linked to the metro station.
CMRL says the construction body of the site analyzed the Shenoy Nagar station and planned the overall structure in accordance with the exteriors and interiors of the metro spot. Both the commuters and visitors to the park can park their vehicles in the underground center.
CMRL has already floated tenders for the three level underground parking for other important stretches. Shenoy Nagar is one such metro station among the eight kilometer line between Nehru Park and Thirumangalam.
