Dearness Allowance up by 2% for central government employees

A central cabinet meeting of ministers was conducted today (Wednesday, 29th August) in Delhi. In this meeting, the central cabinet granted approval for increasing the Dearness Allowance (DA) of the central government employees by 2% as per the recommendations of the 7th Wages Revision Committee.

With this upward revision of DA. 48 Lakhs central government employees and 62 Lakhs pensioners will benefit.

The central government has announced that the above increment will be with effect from 1st July.

The central government has informed that as the prices of essential commodities and other items have gone up, it was decided to increase the DA by 2% for the central government employees and the pensioners.

With this upward revision of DA by 2%, the central government will incur an additional expense of Rs. 6112 Crores per year.  It has been announced that with the increase in DA for the central government pensioners, there will be an additional expense of Rs. 4074 Crores per year.
