The IDEMITSU Honda Ten10 Racing team today won 2 podiums in race 1 of third round of the Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship at MMRT, Chennai. Leading the rally were Mithun Kumar who finished 1st in ProStock 165cc and S. Mathana Kumar who finished 3rd in the SuperSport 165 class.
Speaking on the performance of Honda riders, Mr. Prabhu Nagaraj, Vice President, Brand & Communication, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. said, “With Mithun and Mathana making a strong comeback, tomorrow’s race will be even more exciting. We are delighted to see that the 9 new riders identified through our Honda Talent Hunt and trained in the subsequent Honda Ten10 Racing Academy are performing well. Already, six of them have climbed to Top 10 and with his 4th consecutive win Mukail is showing consistency. Our riders are now geared up for tomorrow.”
SuperSports 165cc race 1 results
The first race of Round 3 was a tough one which witnessed as many as 3 crashes among the 8 riders on the grid. However it was a day of mixed results for the Honda rider trio of Rajiv Sethu, Sarath Kumar and S. Mathana.
The Trichy boy, S.Mathana rounded off race 1 of SuperSport16cc with a strong podium finish with a lap time of 1.56.641 minutes. With this, Mathana has now won 3 podiums by far.
Today was a challenging race for both Honda’s Asia Road Racing Championship rider Rajiv Sethu and Sarath Kumar. Rajiv crashed out in lap 1 during cornering while Sarath suffered mechanical woes in due to which he couldn’t finish.
ProStock 165cc race 1 results
Leading Honda’s charge in the ProStock category of National Championship was Mithun Kumar who consolidated his first position start on the grid throughout the race. Mithun clinched his first top of the podium finsh of the season clocking the finish in just 12:09:580, which was a full second faster than Naresh.
Meanwhile, Anish D Shetty’s bike snagged some problem leading to a delayed pit lane start. Despite overtaking 2 rider, Anish managed to still add 1 point with his 14th finish. However, with 4 podiums including 3 wins and 1 third finish in the four races till now, Anish continues to lead the ProStock championship with a solid lead of 33 points over his nearest competitor and is geared up for tomorrow.
IDEMITSU Honda India CBR 150R Talent Cup, Race 1 and Race 2
Giving new talent opportunity to race in national level, 8 of the 16 riders in CBR 150R Talent Cup were young guns identified through Honda Talent Hunt.
Continuing to win hearts and attract attention of all is the Honda Talent Hunt find, 14 year old Mohamed Mukail from Chennai who completed Saturday with a double victory finish in race 1 and race 2. With this, Mukail has won 4 victories in as many races of the season till date.
Completing the podium in Race 1 were Mohamed Mukail (1st), Kartik V. Habib (2nd) and Anandhu K.K (3rd). The Race 2 podium was rounded off by Mukail (1st), Anandhu K.K (2nd) and Kartik V. Habib (3rd).
