Tamil Nadu Health Minister Dr. C Vijayabaskar on Sunday launched the integrated version of the Chief Minister’s comprehensive health insurance scheme (CMHIS) and the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY). The new scheme will cover the free insurance policy up to Rs 5 lakh per family a year to all beneficiaries of the CM’s scheme. E-cards and pre authorization approvals has been distributed for cashless treatment to 10 people.
With this consolidated scheme combining PMJAY with the CM’s scheme can enhance the lives of 77 lakh poor and vulnerable families identifies under the socio-economic and caste census. Tamil Nadu state government has signed a pact of MoU with the Union Government to integrate both the schemes that can increase the beneficiaries cover by CMHIS for the estimated 1.57 crore families.
According to the official press release the procedures such as Cochlear implant, liver transplant, bone marrow, stem cell, heart and lung transplant and auditory brainstem implant costing up to Rs 25 lakh con be covered through the corpus of the state.
