The facility to procure unreserved train tickets online is set to be introduced throughout the country from 1st November.

This is system was first introduced in the city of Mumbai where the largest electric train system is in operation. Subsequently, this facility was introduced in Chennai and Delhi. It was further introduced in all the regions in the country except North East and West-central regions.

In this scenario, the facility to procure unreserved train tickets online is set to be introduced throughout the country from 1st November.

A senior official from the Railways shared in this regard:

‘Presently, certain regions do not have the facility to procure unreserved train tickets online by using the UTS App. Now, we have planned to introduce this system throughout the country from 1st November. At present, the long-distance train passengers can also procure the unreserved train tickets online.

It is a rather regular scenario that there are always vast crowds in the queue in the counters in the Railway Stations to buy the unreserved ticket. In order to avoid this, the Railways introduced the facility of UTS App to procure unreserved train tickets in the year 2014.

So far, 45 lakhs passengers have utilized UTS App to register. Further, the passengers buy 80000 tickets every day.

By using the UTS App, a passenger can get up to 4 tickets with a single registration. Apart from the unreserved train tickets, it is also possible to procure the Railway Platform tickets, and the monthly season tickets as well.

The Railways earn a daily profit of around Rs. 45 Lakhs per day.
