The Supreme Court has ordered that the sales of the BS IV category of vehicles with pollution control quality to be banned, no purchase/registration from April 2020.
A new regulation that all the vehicles must have BS VI quality of pollution control from 1st April 2020 is proposed to be introduced. Accordingly, the sales of vehicles with BS IV category of pollution control devices will not be sold or registered as per the Supreme Court order.
However, the automobile manufacturers have come forward with the appeal that the sales of BS IV category pollution control must be allowed to be sold at least until September 2020.
At the same time, the central government has informed that Supreme Court that the BS IV category pollution control quality vehicles may be sold until June 2020.
In this situation, the advocate exclusively appointed for this enquiry by the Supreme Court raised the objection to the above government stand that they might be sold till June 2020.
The panel of judges who gave their verdict on this enquiry today (Wednesday, 24th October) that BS IV category pollution control quality vehicles must not be sold or registered after 1st April 2020.
