Prospects of heavy rains in 9 districts from tomorrow (31st October)

As the northeast monsoon rainy seasonal wind has strengthened, IMD (Indian Meteorological Department) has informed that there are prospects of heavy rains from tomorrow (31st October) in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

With the southwest monsoon rainy season concluding on 21st October, the northeast monsoon seasonal winds have started blowing from 26th October. However, the rains did not intensify.

There have been mild intermittent rains in a few districts of Tamil Nadu, So, the public has been eagerly and expectantly awaiting the onset of the northeast monsoon rainy season.

Meanwhile, the final stages of the activities to prevent flooding due to rains in major cities such as the Chennai Metro are nearing completion.

In this situation, a conducive climate is prevailing for the intensification of the northeast monsoon seasonal rains. The private weather agencies have already informed that there are prospects of heavy rains from 1st to 3rd November. Subsequently, IMD has also announced this/

A warning has been issued by IMD about rains in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala, Andhra, and Karnataka states. There are prospects of intense and heavy rains from tomorrow. There are strong prospects of heavy rains in the districts of Chennai, Thiruvallur, Kanchipuram, Cuddalore, Nagapattinam, Villupuram, Thanjavur, Pudhukkottai, and Sivagangai.

There are especially strong prospects of heavy rains in the Chennai Metro City and its suburbs on 1st November.

The Chennai Meteorological Centre has also informed that the there are prospects of heavy rains up to 11 cm rainfall.
