The important Kandha Sahti festival for this year at the famous Thoothukudi District, Thiruchendhur Murugan temple commenced early morning on 8th November with `Yagasalai Pooja’, The most prominent event of the Kandha Sashti festival, ‘Soorasamharam’, is scheduled tomorrow (Tuesday, 13th November).
The corridors of the temple will be opened in the early morning at 1.00 AM. Viswaroopa Deeparadhani will be performed at early morning at 1.30 AM. ‘Udhaya Marthanda Abhishekham’ and Deeparadhanai will be performed at 2.00 AM. The other regular daily Poojas will be performed.
After this, the deities of Lord Jayanthinathar (Muruga), with His Consorts Valli and Deivayanai, will be placed on a ‘Thanga chapparam’ (Golden Palanquin) at the Shanumuga Vilasa Mandapam to offer Darshan to the devotees.
At evening 4.30 PM, the main event of the Kandha Sashti festival, ‘Soorasamharam’ will be performed at the temple shore in presence of lakhs of devotees.
A huge crowd of devotees has gathered from the other parts of Tamil Nadu to attend and have Darshan of this event. 3200 police personnel have been deployed for security. Special buses and trains are being operated.
