With the famous and grand Thirukkarthigai Deepam festival all set to be celebrated on 23rd November in Thiruvannamalai, the higher officials of the State Transport Corporation announced that 1000 special buses are to be operated between Chennai and Thiruvannamalai.
They informed that it has been a centuries’ old tradition to celebrate the Karthigai Deepam festival every year in a great and grand manner in the famous Lord Arunchaleswarar temple in Thiruvannamalai. This year, this Deepam festival is scheduled on 23rd November.
Thousands of devotees are expected to visit Thiruvannamalai on this super-special occasion. Especially, devotees from Chennai, Trichy, Villupuram, Vellore, Pudhucherry, Cuddalore, Perambalur, Virudhachalam, Kallakurichi, and Salem will proceed in large numbers to Thiruvannamalai for this occasion. So, the state Department of Transport is organizing around 3000 special buses for this.
Accordingly, 1000 special buses will be operated from Chennai to Thiruvannamalai. 250 special buses will be operated from Tambaram. These special buses will be operated on 22nd and 23rd November as the public requirement.
There is no advance registration for these buses. If the passenger number increases, the number of buses will also be increased accordingly.
