The superb piece of news is Chennai Metro would soon offer its commuters a facility to book a ride by using its mobile app. By this commuters would be able to travel to areas around the stations with ease.

It is now revealed by the officials belonging to CMRL or Chennai Metro Rail Limited that they have associated with a firm to provide cab service. The official later spoke about how the firm icon would be created in the Chennai Metro rail mobile app. When this gets touched by a commuter then it would direct the commuter to the firm’s vehicle booking page and by this commuter would be able to hire a car. It is worthy to mention that the vehicle would pick them up from the station and drop off at their respective destinations which should be around 5 km in and around the station. The official hinted that the facility would be available for the commuters within a month. One important point is the prices would be nominal and would be fixed in the range of Rs 15 to Rs 20.

The important piece of information is presently there are auto services in places such as Guindy, Alandur, Thirumangalam, Little Mount, Ekkatuthangal, Koyambedu, St Thomas Mount and Ashok Nagar. Share car services are available in places like AG-DMS, Anna Nagar East, Koyambedu, Alandur and Vadapalani and the commuters are charged Rs 10 for share autos and Rs 15 for share car services. It is now said that when in a month of time all the 45km of phase-1 project would become operational then these services would be available at all the stations to provide the last mile connectivity for the commuters. The routes through which these vehicles would ply have been finalised by the Chennai Metro Rail.

Chennai Metro Rail helpline number is 18604251515 and a commuter could also book a cab by calling this number. The commuter would be picked up by the vehicle and then he or she would be dropped at the nearest station. In the beginning this service couldn’t make much impact on the commuters and the amazing information is the stations are now getting as many as 70 to 80 calls every day.
