A new order has been released that all the 2-wheelers manufactured after July 2019 must be fitted with the Reverse Parking Alert facility.
When reversing the buses or cars, the drivers sometimes do notice the people in the back while reversing. This causes serious accidents and also the loss of lives. This happened recently in Delhi when 2 persons including a school girl lost their lives because of suddenly reversing the vehicle.
In this scenario, it has now been announced that all the 4-wheelers manufactured after July 2019 must be fitted with the Reverse Parking Alert facility.
The central ministry of Highways has announced this order. This would be applicable for all categories of trucks and buses, effective from April 2020.
It is informed that this decision was taken to prevent/reduce accidents. However, this would not be applicable to tractors.
When the Reverse Alert System is fitted with the sensor, it will raise an alarm when the vehicle is being reversed to warn if anyone is in the nearby area on the back of the vehicle. So, the driver will be cautioned and would stop reversing. This would prevent an accident.
