Chennai’s Lankan High Commission without a head for 3 months

Sri Lankan diplomat A. Sabrullah Khan has been announced as the new Deputy High Commissioner in Chennai three months ago, but his visa has not been processed till date. The previous commissioner K.M.A. Rajakaruna left his post 3 months back. Normally, a diplomatic visa takes less than a month, after mandatory background checks are made.
Speaking to the media, a diplomat said, ‘Foreign ministries should take into account the domestic commitments of diplomats such as their children`s education and relocation demands.’
