In his speech during the inauguration of Vivekananda Navarathri Festival here on Wednesday, Governor Banwarilal Purohit said the Vivekandana Illam propagates Swami Vivekananda’s teachings and that it has got chequered history.
During the occasion, the governor unveiled a stunning 29-foot statute of Vivekananda. This is to celebrate and commemorate Vivekananda’s stay in the house at Marina Beach. It was back in 1897 that Swami Vivekananda had visited the house. The Governor did not miss to recollect this history of his visit during his speech and he also did remind that the palatial house has god handed over to the hands of State Government towards leasing for Ramakrishna Math.
The participants need to wide-spread the messages and preaching of Swami Vivekananda, he insisted.
There is substantial development in the country in terms of economy, there is still more improvements necessary in the spiritual values such as unselfishness and truth and faith over eternal existence and family values, says the Vice President of Ramakrishna Math and Mission, Mr. Gautamananda. The teachings of Vivekananda imbibes such spiritual values, he pointed.
The event was also graced with the presence of industrialist Nalli Kuppuswami Chetti and Director of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan – K.N. Ramaswamy.
