40 army personnel lost their lives in the recent terrorist attack in Pulwama in Kashmir. 2 army men from Tamil Nadu were also included in this.
This ghastly incident has created a great shock in the Indian minds throughout the country. Honours are being paid and prayers conducted for the departed army personnel.
Honours were accorded of the departed military personnel in all schools, colleges, temples, mosques, churches and other public welfare organizations.
On behalf of the Tamil Nadu petroleum traders, the petrol bunks were closed for 15 minutes as a mark of respect and paying honours on 16th February. The staff and the customers of the 4800 petrol bunk in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry paid honours to the departed military personnel from 8.00 PM to 8.15 PM.
Now, it has been decided that the petrol bunk dealers throughout the country will stop sales of fuel for 15 minutes from 7.00 PM to 7.15 PM today (Wednesday, 20th February) and pay their respects to the departed military personnel.
The president of the Tamil Nadu Petrol Traders’ Association, K. P. Murali, shared in this regard:
‘This dastardly terrorist attack when 40 military personnel lost their lives for the cause of the nation has indeed saddened the hearts of all Indians. As a mark of paying condolence to the departed military personnel and offering condolence to their suffering families, the sales of petrol will be stopped for 15 minutes from 7.00 PM to 7.15 PM in all petrol bunks in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
Arrangements have been made for the customers who visit during this period to pay respects. Banners with a message for the souls of the departed military personnel to rest in peace will be displayed and honours will be paid.’
