Visiting the government offices for getting birth and death certificates is not an easy work. The good news is this process of getting certificates is now made easier for the sake of people. It is important to note that Civil Registration System or CRS of Tamil Nadu would soon be going online. It is now revealed that a portal crstn.org would be rolled out by DPH or Directorate of Public Health and by this we could take out printouts of birth as well as death certificates free of cost.

The point to be noted here is this upcoming online portal would be similar to that offered by the corporation of Chennai. This was later confirmed by Mr. K. Kolandaswamy who is the director of public health and chief register of births and deaths. Next week, chief minister of Tamil Nadu, Mr. E. Palaniswami would be launching this portal for birth and death registrations

With the support received from the National Health Mission, corporation of Chennai was involved in the development of software. The information collected is this portal would be citizen friendly and there would be greater transparency and accountability. The main objective behind this upcoming portal is it would be highly beneficial for the people as they would not have to go to the government offices to get the birth and death certificates.

It must be taken into account that here are as many as 16505 birth and death registration units and these are present in the village panchayats, town panchayats, corporations, municipalities etc. There are also birth and death registration units present in the primary health centres, ESI hospitals and in the government medical college hospitals etc. This has been confirmed by the officials belonging to State Bureau of Health Intelligence.

According to an official. DPH must come up with public domain to issue the certificates for free of cost as DPH is the chief register for births and deaths. This was as per a government order. He then spoke about the importance of public domain and said the public domain has been readied and people would be able to download their certificates easily free of cost.
