Lankan monk attacked in Thanjavur

In an unfortunate twist, a Buddhist monk from Sri Lanka was assaulted in Brihadeeswarar Temple in Thanjavur on Sunday. The monk who was spotted by a pro-Tamil outfit member was beaten up by many who are against the Sri Lanka for atrocities committed on the Tamils in the country during the civil war with the LTTE.
Police arrested 12 people in connection with the incident. The monk was on a study tour. He and his fellow students at the Institute of Archeology of the Archeological Survey of India were visiting the world renowned temple as part of their study.
