Noon meal and child care centres to get mixies

The Tamil Nadu Government has announced a sum of Rs. 12 crore to be set aside to provide mixies to nonmeal centres and child care centres. The scheme will be completed in two phases. The first phase will see 9,094 child care centres and 43,787 non meal centres receive the mixies and the second phase will consist of 46,448 noon meal centres. Phase 1 will cost Rs. 6.6 crores and Phase 2 Rs. 5.76 crores.
An official press release said, The state government provides 13 varieties of rice to the children at these centers and going to nearby flour mills to grind the dal and other commodities would consume lots of time. Hence the move.
