It is well known that Chitalapakkam in Chennai is one of the important residential localities whose neighbourhood is served by Tambaram Sanatorium railway station. There are many places near Chitalapakkam such as Tambaram, Pallavaram, Chromepet etc and these places help in the development of Chitalapakkam.
It is revealed now that the residents belonging to Chitalapakkam have formed a group called ‘Chitalapakkam Rising’. These residents have listed out certain issues and they expect these issues to be solved by their candidates now. It must be taken into account that the residents of Chitalapakkam comes under the Sriperumbudur parliamentary constituency.
The point is the residents want their candidate to sign a memorandum that would give assurance that the issues of the residents would be solved. Chitalapakkam is located on the southern periphery of Chennai and is sandwiched between OMR and Chennai- Trichy highway.
Mr. Sunil Jayaram belonging to the ’Chitalapakkam Rising’ group expressed his thoughts. He spoke about the lake in Chitalapakkam and revealed that the residents have been agitating for many years now. The residents now want their candidates to recover, restore and rejuvenate the lake. There are lakes in places like Selaiyur and Sembakkam and the residents also want these lakes to be restored.
Point is Chitalapakkam has got as many as 39000 registered voters in the Sriperumbudur Lok sabha constituency that has got as many as 12 lakh voters. This ‘Chitalapakkam Rising’ group had talks with the DMK candidate, Mr. T.R. Baalu, and it is now said that Mr. Baalu had given them promise to look into their demands.
The residents are highly concerned about several other issues in Chitalapakkam and these issues are inadequate drinking water supply, underground drainage system, better access to public transport and implementation of underground cabling for the transmissions of electricity etc.
It is now said that this point of time is highly ideal for the voters to explain in detail about their long pending problems as the candidates would be requesting votes. Mr. Sunil Jayaram later spoke about how the group members were in contact with the local MLA Mr. Raju to help them on the above mentioned issues in Chitalapakkam.
