Using metro trains to reach their places of destination has become so common now for many people in the city of Chennai. The truth is many early travelers, early morning joggers, late shift workers etc have been facing issues regarding reaching their places of destination in Chennai due to limited metro train services. Important information is till now there have been time limitations in the metro train operations and soon this would change. After months of running trials, CMRL would be extending the operating time of the metro trains and from Saturday onwards metro trains would be available from early morning 4:30 am till 11 pm in the night.
For every 30 minutes of time, a metro train would be available from 4:30 am to 6 am in the morning and from 10 pm to 11 pm in the night. The important information is the existing schedule of metro trains would be followed between 6 am to 10 pm. The extension in the metro train timings would be a boon for those commuters who go to the railway stations or the airport to catch late night and early trains or flights etc.
As per an official belonging to CMRL, sufficient security plus staffs to operate metro trains from 4:30 am have been arranged. It is now believed that this extension in the operating time of the metro trains would attract many commuters to use metro trains. Currently metro trains are available from morning 6 am till night 10 pm is known. From Saturday onwards the first train from Washermanpet, airport, Chennai Central and ST. Thomas Mount would depart at 4:30 in the morning and the last train at 11 pm.
The amazing piece of news is during the peak hours of time 8 am to 11 am and from 5 pm to 8 pm metro trains would be there for every 5 minutes across the corridors from Washermanpet to airport and from Chennai Central to St Thomas Mount. Direct train services from Chennai Central to airport would be there by every alternate train. Metro trains would be operated for every 7 minutes in the non-peak hours of time.
The officials of CMRL explained about how the new extended timings would be followed from Monday to Saturday but on the Sundays the existing time table would be followed and there would be metro trains from 7:58 am to 10 pm in the night. It is revealed that the trials conducted by CMRL in the last 6 months were done to synchronize operations, duty hours of staff members etc.
