More number of signage are to be installed at Chennai Metro underground stations in order to guide passengers with the right directions.
At an overall cost of Rs 14,600, under phase-1 project there were 19 underground stations and 13 elevated stations structured. There were many complaints from commuters stating that it is difficult for them to migrate from concourse level until platform level at most of the underground stations. Following this, the CMRL department has decided to install more of signage.
CMRL officials say since past few weeks, works to put up signage boards are being carried out at underground. The number of signage boards at entrance and exist points are increased, say officials. This move is imperative as most of the underground stations have got multiple entrance or exit points.
