Puducherry was the venue of violence with people from various organizations and institutions agitating for the Sri Lankan issue.

The Aurobindo Ashram was attacked by members of Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam (TPDK) for the West Bengal government’s support to Sri Lanka in the Tamil Eelam issue. The agitators broke into the Ashram, vandalised the office and smashed some flower pots close to the Samadi of Aurobindo.
Some members of the Puducherry Dalit Sena were arrested as they tried do to damage to a statue of Rajiv Gandhi.

The police had to resort to lathi charge when students who were protesting outside the Immigration Office charged into the office and refused to listen to orders to vacate the premises.
