80 percent people want banning of TikTok app

According to a latest survey report, 8 millennials in India request banning of TikTok, a Chinese. The survey was conducted following the advice by the Madras High Court to ban TikTok mobile app as it is widely complained of enticing youngsters towards pornography.

ByteDance, a Chinese company owns the TikTok mobile app. According to the Madras High Court claims, the app contains inappropriate data. The government should take immediate measures to stop using the app, as it has to act socially responsible.

In their response to this order, TikTok claims its adherence to laws and rules. The app abides by the Information Technology Rules 2011. TikTok is waiting for official notices from the Madras High Court upon which detailed review shall be done and necessary action be taken, says company sources. Further, it adds that a Chief Nodal Officer is appointed to track the developments and happenings in this regard.

Survey on TikTok

The survey was conducted predominantly among Tier-1 and Tier-2 cities involving questioning of over 30,000 participants of age group 18 to 35 years. They were asked whether TikTok should be banned or not. Answering this, about 80% of surveyed population recommended banning while 20 percent did not want to.

TikTok App

TikTok mobile app has thus far attracted over 1 billion users of which 50 million are Indians. As of January 2019, 43% of TikTok users accounted to Indian population while te same was only 9.5 percent in January last year, read a blog post.

Of the total TikTok downloads, 25 percent of them are from Indian users. The app is all about shooting short, fun videos and share online.
