Renovation of Childrens Park at Guindy at Rs. 1 Cores to make more attractive

In order to increase the number of visitors, renovations and modifications have been carried out in the Children’s Park located at Chennai, Guindy at a cost of Rs. 1 Crore. Also, additional facilities have been introduced for the animals.

Guindy Children’s Park, Chennai has remained one of the major time-pass attractions in Chennai over a long period. There are 400 animals/birds, etc., in 46 categories here. Thousands of visitors enter even during the weekdays. On weekends and holidays this number of visitors increases substantially.

 The cyclone Varda, during the year 2016, uprooted 1000s of trees and greatly damaged the Children’s Park as well. A large number of trees were uprooted and the other infrastructure items were also severely damaged. New saplings were setup in these places. Considering the visitors, the damaged infrastructure was repaired. New infrastructure was set up as required.

Thus, an amount of Rs. 1 Crore was expended to make the Guindy Children’s Park completely renovated to look all new attractive! As the animals got exhausted during the summer season of high intensity heat, the area (width and height) were increased and roofs were erected with sheaf`s of coconut and palm trees.

In order to prevent the animals and birds from getting affected by the typical complaints in the summer season, arrangements have been made to spray water. An additional water tank has been setup.

As per the recommendations of the veterinary doctors, 40 kinds of fruits and vegetables are given to the animals which help cool the body.

Barriers have been erected for the safety of the visitors while enabling them to see the fauna. The damaged roads have been repaired and relaid with tar and cement. Drinking water and toilet facilities have been provided for the visitors.

The activities of enlargement of the ticket counter areas have been completed. 2 arches have been erected at the main entrance and decoration of the arches in the form of coconut tree and other plants. The sidewalls in the main road have been attractively painted with forest animals and birds.

The officials shared that the good environmental condition required for the animals and birds have been arranged with this new infrastructure. The roads, seats, ticket counters, drinking water facility, First Aid Treatment, Wheel-chairs for the differently-baled, the infrastructural facilities for the smooth movement of the visitors, etc., have been carried out. Further it is planned to add more animals and birds to increase the attraction to the children. All activities except the arches have been completed.
