TMK members arrested in Chennai

Police arrested members of the Tamizhaga Munnetra kazhagam (TMK) for locking the Head Post Office on Mount Road in Chennai. Among those arrested was TMK General Secretary Athiyaman. They were protesting war crimes by the Sri Lankan government against Tamil civilians during their civil war with the LTTE.
In a statement, the group said, ‘What happened in Sri Lanka is Genocide. For this international investigation should be conducted. Tamil Eelam should be created after a referendum. That is the only solution.
India has supported the genocide in Eelam. Now India acts against Tamils. However the whole Tamil people are acting with a clear aim of Tamil Eelam. That is the universal justice. But India goes in opposite direction. This should be condemned.’
