Tamil Nadu Election Commission plans to announce local elections in August

Information gathered from the Tamil Nadu State Election Commission Circles states that plans are afoot to announce the local elections to be conducted in August.
The primary training courses for taking up the tasks of preparing the voters’ list as per the local corporations/Panchayat administrations have been completed. The personnel who got trained in the 1st few batches will, in turn, train the other staff regarding the preparation of voters’ list.
After the above training sessions, the activity of preparation of the ward-wise voters’ list will commence. The Tamil Nadu State Election Commission has planned to complete this by end July and then announce the local election dates in August.
In a similar trend, it has decided to use EVMs (Electronic Voting Machines) during the local elections in the local elections in cities.
However, the above circles informed that the facility for the voter to check as to who the vote has been cast will not be available.
