The rising prices of petrol and diesel have had an effect on the prices of essential commodities. The prices of vegetables have risen sharply causing worry to the common man. The bad monsoons last year may result in a low yield as well.

The rising prices of essential commodities have resulted in the rise in fees for Engineering colleges since accommodation and food costs have increased. Currently, engineering courses cost an average of Rs. 80,000 a year and the food and accommodation an additional Rs. 20,000. Colleges have decided to increase the entire cost by 20% for the coming academic year.
