Darshan of Lord Athi Varadhar after a gap of 40 years in Kanchipuram

Activities for various arrangements planned on the occasion of the 48 days celebration of Athi Varadhar Darshan in Kanchipuram scheduled to commence today morning at 5.00 AM  (Monday, 1st July) are under full swing.

The Darshan of Athivaradhar is only once in 40 years - the sacred idol of Athi Varadhar was taken from the pond and brought to the famous temple of Lord Varadarajar  and special ‘Abhishekhams’ were performed with herbs and poojas were performed.

As the corridors of the ‘Vasantha Mandapam’ were to be opened at early morning 5.00 AM today (Monday, 1st July), and Lord Athi Varadhar will offer Darshan to the devotees. It is expected that a very large crowd of devotees will gather for this Darshan right from Sunday evening. Hence, all the arrangements are to be completed at the earliest.

The devotees visiting Kanchipuram from other places need to park their vehicles temporarily at the bus terminus and have to reach the Eastern Temple Tower by mini-bus. The devotees have to stand in queue and have Darshan of Lord Athi Varadhar and after the Darshan, arrangements are made for the devotees to leave via the Western Temple Tower corridors.

On this occasion of the 48 days of Athi Varadhar Darshan, additional electric trains will be operated in the Arkonam-Chennai-Kanchipuram Section.

Further, 2500 police personnel are to be deployed for security.

Meanwhile, the district collector Ponnaiya and the Police Superintendent Santosh Adhimani visited personally to the venue to inspect and assess the arrangement underway.
