K. Shanmugam assumes office as Tamil Nadu State Government Chief secretary

K. Shanmugam assumed office as the 46th Chief Secretary of the Tamil Nadu State Government.
The services of Ms Girija Vaidyanathan, who was the Chief Secretary, ended as she was due to retire yesterday (Sunday, 30th June) from her government service.
Subsequently, K. Shanmugam, who was the Secretary of the Department of Finance from 2010 under the DMK and AIADMK governments was appointed as the Chief Secretary.
After assuming office as the Chief Secretary, Shanmugam met the Tamil Nadu State Governor Banwarilal Purohit and Chief Minister E. Palanisami and had a review/consultant meeting with them.
