How would you react when you hear that sewage has entered metro water pumps? Shocked isn’t it!!

The residents belonging to Rakasekharan Street of Dr. Radhakrishnan Salai are affected badly now because the sewage had entered the metro water pipeline. It must be noted that the water stored in the sumps have started emanating very bad smell. This has led to many senior citizens using hotel rooms for bathing and cleaning. Information collected is this issue has been present for the last one month and inspite of the repeated complaints no action was taken.

A senior citizen belonging to this place in Mylapore has written letter to CMWSSB to take the necessary action. It was later pointed out by the son of this senior citizen that they have been buying water from the water tankers once in a month. He added that the sump water has become unusable due to mixing of sewage with the drinking water line. Finally he spoke about how his father and other senior citizens depend on hotels to take bath now.

The shocking piece of information now is around 200 people reside in this Rajasekaran Street, Mylapore and in another few days of time sewage might contaminate the drinking water in all the houses there. It was pointed out that when complaint was made about the contamination, the officials come to pacify them but not provided any solution.

In the letter written by the senior citizen to CMWSSB authorities it was stated that the sewage line in the streets gets clogged leading to seepage and posing many health risks. The reason given by the residents was a restaurant in their street disposes excess sewage clogging the lines. Information is an engineer belonging to CMWSSB mentioned that there was no mixing of sewage and drinking water lines. He added that seepage that was present was rectified.
