The Union Government has given the go ahead to oil companies to raise diesel prices marginally by 40 paise- 50 paise per litre. The move comes in the wake of the companies incurring heavy losses. However, this move will affect transport companies.

Private buses and omni buses will have to be more costly now. "The Bus Owners" Association has announced that there will be a price hike in services every three months to make up for the rise in fuel. In a statement, President of the Tamil Nadu Omni Bus Association Mr. Afzal said, "To make up for the rising diesel prices, fares for AC buses will be increased by Rs. 50 and non AC buses up to Rs. 30 with effect from 15th April."
