Prospects of heavy rains in 5 districts in Tamil Nadu

The Chennai Meteorological Centre has warned that there are prospects of very heavy rains in the districts lying adjacent to the Western Ghat Mountain Range for 2 days on Friday, 19th July, and Saturday, 20th July.

In this regard, the Director of the Chennai Meteorological Centre, Puviyarasan, shared with the press:

‘Due to the convective rain phenomenon, there are prospects of heavy rain in the districts of Villupuram, Thiruvallur, Kanchipuram, Vellore, and Thiruvannamalai on Thursday, 18th July (today).

Due to the southwest monsoon rainy season, there are strong prospects of very heavy rains in the districts lying adjacent to the Western Ghat Mountain Range, Thirunelveli, Theni, Coimbatore, Nilgiri, and Kanyakumari on Thursday, 18th July (today).

Subsequently, for the next 2 days, Friday, 19th July and Saturday, 20th July, there are bright prospects of very heavy rains from 120 mm to 200 mm of rainfall in the districts lying adjacent to the Western Ghat Mountain Range.

Even on Sunday, 21st July, there are prospects of heavy rains in a few places in Tamil Nadu.

The Chennai Metro City will remain cloudy. There are prospects of mild rain in a few places.’
