The ‘Organisation for Protecting Harbour Solidarity’ has threatened to block all exports and imports to Tamil Nadu. The Sri Lankan trade union, based in Colombo, has said that it will block trade worth $2 billion or more.
Reports say that the organization is holding a protest rally in front of the Colombo harbour’s main gate. The Organisation is a pro-government movement.
The threat comes in the wake of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa’s and other politicians’ putting pressure on the Indian government to take a tough stand in the UN resolution against Sri Lankan war crimes.
