CBSE (The Central Board of Secondary Education) has decided to incorporate some revisions in the internal assessment system for the Public Examinations for 10th Standard and +2.
CBSE has decided to schedule to conduct the practical examinations, presently scheduled in February, during December itself!
Accordingly, the concerned schools have to schedule and conduct the practical examinations on proper dates as per the details allotted by CBSE. The schools need to conduct the practicals for the internal assessment system as well.
As regard 10th Standard, for the subjects of Mathematics and Science, 80 marks are allotted for the written examination and 20 marks for the practical examination. These 20 marks are for the internal assessment system.
However, CBSE has not so far allotted/specified the teachers for the practical examinations and the internal assessment.
At the same time, 2 types of assessments are meant for the students of the 12th Standard or +2. In the 1st type, 70 marks are allotted for the written examination and 30 marks for the internal assessment system. In the 2nd type, 80 marks are allotted for the written examination and 20 for the internal assessment.
CBSE has informed that the practical tests can be conducted by adopting the 1st type of 70+30 marks and for monitoring these practical examinations, the teachers from the respective schools can be deployed. It is gathered that CBSE will not interfere in this internal assessment system.
CBSE has decided to conduct this in the Delhi Region on a trial basis. It has planned to follow the same system later for the schools in other states.
However, the academicians inform that CBSE is yet to give a clear guideline on this issue.
So far, no decisions have been taken as to whether the teachers will be deployed as per the 80-2- system or whether the internal assessment will be based as per the subject lessons. Also, no clear guidelines have been given for the new system for internal assessment.
