Renowned Malayalam film maker Adoor Gopalakrishnan will be honoured by the Chicago University on April 11th. The University will hold a three day showing of the director’s films, which will be followed by a seminar on New Indian Cinema on April 13th. The seminar is expected to consist of film critics and academicians. ‘ "Mathilukal" (Walls), "Vidheyan" (The Servile) and "Nizhalkkuthu" (Shadow Kill) would be screened from April 11 to 13’, said an official press release.
It is interesting to note that Mr. Gopalakrishnan’s films are part of the Asian cinema curriculum at Yale and University of Colorado. The director will also launch the Adoor Gopalakrishnan Film Archive and Research Fund on April 15th at the University of Wisconsin.
