Additional 20 minibuses introduced to facilitate Chennai Metro Rail passengers

An official (CMRL) has informed that an additional 20 minibuses are to be operated to the Chennai Metro Railway Stations.

Presently, on behalf of the Chennai Metro Rail, the services of share-taxi and share-auto are available in the Metro Stations.

In this situation, minibus services were introduced to 6 Metro Railways Stations Central, Government Garden, LIC, Thousand Lights, DMS, and Nandanam.

Presently, these minibuses services operate covering 6 km to 8 km distances from the Metro stations. The fare of Rs. 10 is collected.

In this situation, a CMRL official has informed:

‘20 minibuses have been imported in order to expand the existing linking system for the Metro passengers’ facility.

He told that12 minibuses service is in operation already in 6 stations. With the objective of expanding this facility, an additional 20 minibuses have been imported from Bengaluru.

With 2 minis buses per station, the services will be shortly introduced fort these 20 minibuses for 10 Metro Station. The fares for these minibus services can be paid either through mobile App or the Metro ticket card.

Based on the popularity at the present time, this minibus service may be extended to all other Metro Stations. However, the selection of stations from where the service will be introduced is yet to be decided.’
