The officials of the country’s premier public sector bank, State Bank of India have informed that in case the transaction is undertaken in ATM fails and if there is no money in the account, service charges will be levied.
The SBI officials explained:
‘The SBI customers in major cities can withdraw cash from ATMs free of charge 5 times in a month from SBI ATMs and 3 times from other bank ATMs. This has been increased to 10 times in non-major cities.
When this allowed limit is crossed for further use of ATM, charges from Rs. 5 to Rs. 20 will be collected along with GST.
In case the customer’s transaction gets rejected or if there is no balance in the savings account, a service charge of Rs. 20 will be collected. The charges for the cardless transactions on ATM have been fixed as Rs. 22.
If the amount in the SBI savings accounts maintained at a monthly average of Rs. 25000, the customer can avail unlimited transactions on the ATM.`
These new charges will be implemented from 1st October.
