The new terminal at the Chennai Domestic Airport is now fully functional after departures were opened on Thursday. The Spice Jet flight from Chennai – Pune and Guwahati were the first ones out at 5 am. The arrivals at the terminal have been underway since March 21st.
The AAI (Airports Authority of India) had arranged for refreshments to be sold inside the terminal, but more stalls are expected to come up shortly.
Air India, which will start operations on Friday, released a statement that said, ‘Chennai-Port Blair flight will be its first service out of the new domestic terminal, followed by departures to Thiruvananthapuram, Bangalore, Mumbai, Goa, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad and Delhi. Passengers travelling the domestic leg of international flights will have to board at the existing international terminal.’
