As more than 40% of vacant posts are yet to be filled, the functioning of RTO severely affected!

As more than 40% of the various vacant posts in the Chennai Road Transport Offices (RTOs) are yet to be recruited/filled up, the functioning of these RTOs has been severely affected.
There are 86 Regional RTOs, 52 Motor Vehicle Inspectors Offices, and 12 Joint and Assistant Transport Commissioners’ offices functioning under the control of the Tamil Nadu Transport Department. 3060 employees are meant to function in these offices at various posts whereas only 1757 employees are presently working!
Or in other words, 1303 posts are still vacant! Several posts of Supervisors, Registration Section Clerks, and Office Assistants remain vacant. Because of this, the public is put to great hardships - whatever task should normally take within an hour, is being dragged unnecessarily longer by the working staff who make the public run around for several days! And on top of this, the brokers utilize this opportunity to demand and get an extra commission!
Thus, the public has been persistently demanding that immediate recruitments must be carried out to fill up the vacant posts as it is the only solution for this problem!
