In yet another incident, six Indian fishermen were attacked by the Sri Lankan navy according to reports on Saturday. The fishermen were attacked off the coast of Kodikarai.
The fishermen, who were from the hamlet of Kinjalmedu near Karaikal, were attacked with iron rods. They were reportedly in Indian waters when the Sri Lankan Navy approached them in a fast vessel and attacked them, also throwing their catch back into the sea.
This is the third such attack in three days. The injured fishermen were rescued by others of their kind and admitted into the Karaikal Government Hospital.
