The Tamil Nadu Chief Election Officer Satyaprada Sahu has appealed to the voters to volunteer themselves and act immediately personally to remove all duplicate entries.

The task of voters’ list verification started in Tamil Nadu state on 16th September. The task will be in progress until 18th November.

10 IAS officers have been deployed to monitor the progress on the voters’ list verification in progress. The Chief Election Officer conducted a review meeting with the above 10 IAS officers regarding the progress. He shared the details:

‘The task of verification of voters’ list was taken up on 1st September. Out of the total 5.99 Crores voters, 1.64 Crores voters have verified their details. The balance voters will also have to check and confirm. The deadline for this has been extended until 18th November.

The draft final voters’ list is scheduled to be released on 25th November. Subsequently, the feedback from the voters regarding the corrections required will be received, checked, and verified. The final voters’ list is set to be released on 20th January. 10 IAS officers have been deployed to monitor the progress on this task.

Each IAS officer has been given 3 districts for monitoring. The voters need to check their names, address, and the photo. In case a change is required, the voter has to apply for correction.

We have managed to remove most of the cases of ‘double-entry’ in the voters’ list.

The public also needs to play their part voluntarily coming forward to remove the cases of double-entry in the voters’ list. The proposal to link Aadhar cards with Voter ID number is under review.
